Wotherspoon boosted by preparation
Hibernian youngster David Wotherspoon feels their pre-season tour of Holland will acclimatise them for their Europa League opener against Maribor.
Hibs ended their four-match Dutch schedule with a 1-1 draw against Vitesse Arnhem on Saturday and have returned to Edinburgh ahead of their clash in Slovenia on Thursday.
Slovenian cup winners Maribor beat Hungarians Videoton in the second qualifying round and have already begun their domestic season, but Wotherspoon is confident Hibs are ready for the challenge.
The versatile teenager told www.hibernianfc.co.uk: "The game against Vitesse was important because it was a good work-out and in terms of preparing for Thursday it was a useful exercise.
"We are still getting our fitness and match sharpness back, so playing the four games in such a short space of time was beneficial.
"We are expecting the match on Thursday to be played in hot conditions, so it was good to be able to prepare in such a warm climate. Often it can be hard to adjust to the heat, so now we are used to that heading into the game on Thursday."
