Terrors boss hits back at Peat

Peat recently criticised the level of football in the Scottish Premier League by claiming the standard was so bad that he could have played in goal in some recent matches.[LNB]Levein clearly disagreed with those comments, at a time when every team has something to play for in the SPL, when quizzed after an exciting match at Tannadice.[LNB]"Do you think George Peat could have played in goals in that one?" he smiled. "I don't think so."[LNB]However, Levein admits United must stop shooting themselves in the foot if they are to have any chance of hauling themselves back into contention for European football next season.[LNB]They found themselves trailing to Hibs early in the game when Colin Nish netted twice in a blistering four-minute spell, before Craig Conway missed from the penalty spot.[LNB]United did manage to claim a share of the points when Garry Kenneth pulled a goal back early in the second half before David Goodwillie came off the bench to bundle home the equaliser in injury time.[LNB]But Levein fears their 'get out of jail' cards will soon run out as they head into a crucial stage of the season.[LNB]"I shortened my life span by another five years today," he said.[LNB]"We were fantastic in the second half but it's concerning that we were again in a position where we hadn't performed in the first half.[LNB]"We have given ourselves some really difficult tasks. We are just about managing to get ourselves out of trouble but I don't want to keep doing this."[LNB]United lost Jon Daly to what appeared to be a bad knee injury just before Nish embarked upon his scoring spree and Levein believes the incident may have played a part in allowing Hibs an early advantage.[LNB]He said: "I don't know if Jon Daly's injury had an affect on the players.[LNB]"He's a really strong physical boy and to see him on the ground and writhing in agony, you know there is something seriously wrong.[LNB]"The players were all concerned about that and when play started again we just didn't get going."[LNB]Levein added: "It's his knee, he is in the hospital and we are waiting to find out. It happened so quickly. I was following the ball and then looked back and saw Jon lying there."[LNB]Hibs boss Mixu Paatelainen admits his side should have had the points wrapped up well before United made their late comeback.[LNB]He said: "We had chances in the first half and a couple of half chances in the second half so I'm disappointed. I felt we should have won the game. We had chances to kill the game off and we didn't do it.[LNB]But he added: "It's a good away point at the end of the day. It's not an easy fixture and most people would be happy to come here and get the point."[LNB][LNB]
