Stevenson backed to shine

Young midfielder Lewis Stevenson has been backed to bounce back from a disappointing second half to the 2007-08 campaign by Hibs boss Mixu Paatelainen.

The 20-year-old was a regular in the starting line-up throughout 2007, but a dip in form saw him consigned to the substitutes bench by Paatelainen after Christmas.

The Hibs manager said: "Lewis Stevenson's a fantastic footballer. He's got a good attitude and a lot of potential.

"We've got to remember that he's still just a young boy. He broke into the first team when he was young and he still is young.

"He didn't play an awful lot of football towards the second half of last season and he was disappointed with that.

"But hopefully we'll see the best of him this season and he'll be much more involved than he was last time round."
