Stevenson urges Hibs to look forward

Alistair Stevenson has urged his Hibernian players not to dwell on the past as he prepares to lead the team following the exit of John Hughes.[LNB] Under-19 coach Stevenson and first-team coach Gareth Evans have been preparing for the SPL clash against Kilmarnock since Hughes and assistant Brian Rice lost their jobs.[LNB]Stevenson immediately told them to forget the past and concentrate on ensuring a bright future.[LNB]"We discussed things last week and spoke about what is in the past is very much in the past," Stevenson said.[LNB]"The only way we can progress as a club is to look forwards. We haven't looked back and discussed anything that has happened in the past.[LNB]"The players have been really focused and really upbeat. We have been impressed with the way they have worked."[LNB]Hibs have won just once in 10 competitive matches this season but Stevenson does not think sweeping changes are required.[LNB]"I don't think there is necessarily anything been majorly wrong, he said.[LNB]"We need a wee bit of luck and we have been focusing on different bits and pieces in the team.[LNB]"If we can put the ball in the net at one end and defend positively at the other end then we have a very realistic chance of winning the game on Saturday."[LNB]Stevenson, who has helped to develop many of the first-team players at Easter Road, is honoured to be leading the team but he dismissed questions about whether he wanted the manager's job on a long-term basis.[LNB]"I've not even thought about that," he said. "The only thing I'm thinking about is Saturday. Saturday is not about me, it's about the players."[LNB]
