Stack handed Hibs contract

Goalkeeper Graham Stack has been handed a two-year contract by Hibernian.

Stack, 27, had been training with the Scottish Premier League club during pre-season, after leaving former club Plymouth Argyle at the end of the last campaign.

The former Arsenal trainee was troubled by a hamstring strain throughout the pre-season programme but still managed to impress manager John Hughes.

Stack will challenge Yves Makalamby for the number one jersey at Easter Road this season.

"I could see from the moment I arrived at the Hibernian training centre just how massive Hibernian is and I'm delighted to be given the opportunity to play for this club," he told the club's official website.

"I realise that competition for the goalkeeping slot will not be easy. Yves has established himself here and in Thomas Flynn the club already has a fine young goalkeeper who has just stepped up from the youth side.

"My aim will be to compete for a first-team place here and show the manager and the supporters that I'm worthy of a regular place in the side."
