Sodje loving life at Hibernian

Akpo Sodje had no hesitation in moving to Hibernian and is ready to start scoring and helping the club climb the Clydesdale Bank Premier League table.

The former Charlton forward has a 100% record for Hibs, having made his debut in the 2-0 win over St Mirren, a result which ended a 12-match winless run. The woeful form, which sees Hibs 10th in the SPL ahead of Saturday's match with fourth-placed Kilmarnock, did not put Sodje off moving to Easter Road.

"Everybody has asked me the same question, but when it comes to playing for Hibs, you look at the club and it's a big club," said Sodje.

"You don't look at the table to judge what the club is all about.

"It was a very easy decision for me to come here. It's fantastic. It's even better than I was thinking it would be."

Sodje was signed by manager Colin Calderwood, in part, to help take the burden off Derek Riordan, who is Hibs' top scorer with nine goals this season.

The 6ft 2in target man is developing a good relationship with Riordan, who is in his second spell at Hibs and has been telling his new strike partner about the club's history.

"Derek Riordan is a joker and we get on really well - I get on really well with everybody," added Sodje.

"He's made me really comfortable coming to the club. He told me what the club was all about.

"It will be good to take some pressure off him but the pressure's got to be on the whole team not just two players."
