Smith calls up Whittaker

Hibernian defender Steven Whittaker has been called into the Scotland squad by boss Walter Smith for Wednesday's Euro 2008 qualifier against Ukraine.

The 22-year-old replaces Christian Dailly who is suspended after picking up his second yellow card of the qualifying campaign in Saturday's shock 1-0 win against France.

Smith was already without the injured Aberdeen defender Russell Anderson.

It is the first time Whittaker has been called into the full international squad.
