Ross County v Hibernian reaction

Ross County manager Derek Adams hailed a "big performance" from his team after they saw off Hibernian 3-2 in the SPL on Saturday. A late goal from Colin McMenamin, his first of the season, was enough to earn the home side their first home victory in the SPL. In an entertaining match Leigh Griffiths gave Hibs the lead in the sixth minute but Stuart Kettlewell levelled three minutes later. Iain Vigurs then gave County the lead in the 34th minute before Hibs equalised through James McPake on the stroke of half-time. The match looked to be heading for a draw - until McMenamin scored the winner. Adams said: "It was a big performance from us - Hibernian weren't in the game in the first half. "We came in at 2-2 at half-time, undeservedly so. Hibernian had two chances but we had all of the play. We were by far the better team. "In the second half Hibernian came more into it. But in the first half we controlled the game and should have been out of sight. "We knew today we would beat Hibernian. We knew we had the character in the team, we had the better players. "We had watched them, we knew their weaknesses, we knew we were going to win, it is as simple as that." Adams continued: "We've closed the gap (on the top four) to four points. We've had an excellent start to the campaign. "You have to remember we don't have half the budget Hibernian have, and half the fan base they do. "We've just come up to the SPL, it's a difficult league and we've gathered three massive points today against a team that was in second position. "We played ever so well. It was a tremendous performance." Hibs boss Pat Fenlon said: "We played well in the second half and we're pretty disappointed to lose it. "We were disappointed in the way we defended as a team. We didn't deal with long balls into our box today. "Leigh Griffiths had a couple of chances in the second half, he normally hits the target with them but I couldn't complain with him today, his work-rate was great. "On another day he might have scored them."
