Riordan seals Hibs return

Hibernian beat Monday's transfer deadline to re-sign former striker Derek Riordan from Celtic.

The 25-year-old made his name at Easter Road after scoring 54 times in just 100 Scottish Premier League starts before joining Celtic in 2006.

However, the Scotland international has returned to Edinburgh on a three-year contract after starting just eight league games during his two seasons at Parkhead.

"Derek's a tremendous talent and his goal-scoring record speaks for itself," manager Mixu Paatelainen told the club's official website.

"He'll bring even more competition up front and that's an area that I was keen to strengthen. We've certainly achieved that with this signing."
