Rankin revelling in Hughes regime

Hughes has quickly stamped his own identity on his new side, making a number of signings - the latest being Liam Miller on Friday - as well as releasing those players he deemed surplus to requirements. Midfielder Rankin admits to nervously looking over his shoulder at times but the 26-year-old has proven a key part of the manager's plans, starting all three Scottish Premier League games this season. "Obviously, when a new manager comes in, there are always nerves," Rankin said ahead of Sunday's trip to Hamilton. "A lot of us have been lucky enough that the manager has seen what we're like and has wanted to keep us here. "There have obviously been a few moved on since he came in. But, at the end of the day, he has got to do his own thing anyway and be his own man. "Everything he has done has definitely been enjoyable, so if we can keep enjoying training and enjoying our football then it is only going to bode well for the club in the future." Explaining the difference Hughes had made since his arrival, Rankin added: "The manager has come in with a positive mindset and it has certainly transferred to the players. "We are all looking forward to playing on a Saturday - he has certainly put his style of play across and it suits our players very well. "We are obviously learning the system still - we have only had the manager for a few months - but it has been great so far. Hopefully we can learn a lot better in the next couple of weeks and kick on from there." Hamilton manager Billy Reid has been impressed by Hughes so far and is well aware the Hibs boss has enjoyed a more successful start to the season than his own side. While Hibs notched up wins over St Mirren and Falkirk and were unfortunate to finish their game against Celtic empty-handed, Accies failed to take a single point from meetings with Kilmarnock, Aberdeen and Rangers. However, while showing their visitors respect this weekend, Reid insists there will be no signs of fear from his new-look team. He said: "Hibs will be happy sitting on six points, with their only defeat in the game against Celtic. In the second half, they could maybe have picked up a point. "They have had a reasonable start, they have got a new management team. They are a big club, with a good support as well. "It is not a game we fear but we respect them."
