O'Neill, Calderwood, Adams and Reid refuse to rule themselves out of the Hibs job
All four in th running Four managers being heavily linked with the vacant managers job at Easter Road, have today refused to rule themselves out. Shamrock Rovers boss and former Hibees midfielder Michael O’Neill, Hamilton manager Billy Reid, former Aberdeen boss Jimmy Calderwood and Ross County gaffer Derek Adams have all commented on the Easter Road position. Joint favourite for the job, along with Steve Clarke, Michael O’Neill, said: "It is a great job but I'd have no interest in commenting at this moment." Ross County manager Derek Adams, who helped plot the Hibees Scottish Cup Quarter Final downfall last season added: "It's flattering to be linked with such a job." Former Aberdeen boss Jimmy Calderwood said: "You just have to wait and see but Hibs are one of the bigger clubs so obviously you like being linked with them. "I would be interested but you have to be asked first. The favourites don't always win do they? "I miss football and the day-to-day running of a club. "I am proud of my record but I wasn't asked too many times last year to fill jobs. People might have other ideas about you." Last, but not least, Billy Reid said: "Hibs are a big club, but there have been a lot of names mentioned in connection with the job. "I haven't given it a thought. I've been here before, being mentioned for various jobs only for nothing to happen. "But I couldn't turn round and say I would not move to a club like Hibs. "I'd be wrong to say that, but I genuinely haven't thought about it and why should I? "Rod Petrie is his own man and I'm sure he'll come up with the right answers. Hibs are a great club and they have a fantastic youth development programme. "They also have a terrific stadium, but the important thing is they have a reputation for bringing young boys through and, for me, that's the way it has to be for Scottish clubs. "Without a doubt it will be a great job for whoever gets it, but I'm really disappointed how it turned out for John Hughes. "He always tried to play football in the right manner and if his team had just got two more wins they'd be sitting in fourth. But I work for Hamilton Accies, I have a rolling contract and I enjoy my time here. "I had the chance to manage Swansea in the Championship during the summer, but the time wasn't right and I felt I had unfinished business here. "Like anyone else, I want to manage at the highest level possible and at the biggest club I can. "But I'm the boss at Hamilton and there's no point in talking about speculation. "If my name is mentioned then fine, but right now it's not relevant." More food for thought for the Hibees board of directors as they seek a replacement for John Hughes.
