O'Connor enjoying lone role

Garry O'Connor is enjoying playing the lone striker role for both Hibernian and Scotland despite the massive workload involved.

The forward has netted eight times this season despite playing up front on his own and that prompted Scotland boss Walter Smith to use him in a similar role against the USA on Saturday.

The plan did not work as he lacked support and looked isolated, but O'Connor still enjoyed the experience.

He said: "I've been playing up front by myself all season and it's tough as everything has to go through you.

"You've got to do a lot of running but that's the system that works as I feel you can pass it about more.

"You've got to do your bit on the park and it is hard up there but it's good."
