No rapid return for Shiels

Hibernian striker Dean Shiels has been forced to see a specialist in an attempt to get to the bottom of his troublesome ankle injury.

The 23-year-old, who has been sidelined for the last fortnight with the problem, has been told there is no ligament damage but was forced to have an injection in an attempt to aid his recovery.

Hibs boss Mixu Paatelainen said: "Dean is still struggling with his ankle. He went to see a specialist earlier in the week and they gave him a jab in his ankle to try to help.

"We will have to give it a couple of days to settle and then we will see how he is but there is no ligament damage so that is a positive for us.

"I didn't expect him to be out for this long and neither did the player, but hopefully it will only be a matter of another week or so before he is back playing again.

"It is very unfortunate that it has lingered for a little while longer than we thought, but it is better that we give him the time and make sure that we are doing things right."
