Nish comes back to haunt former club

The forward dusted himself down after being fouled to take a quick set piece early in the second half of his side's Clydesdale Bank SPL match at Kilmarnock - and team mate Anthony Stokes promptly converted to equalise for the third-placed side in the eventual 1-1 draw.[LNB]Nish took the kick while some Kilmarnock players were still debating the decision, but he is adamant that it was the correct call from the officials, and said the visitors could even have had a later penalty.[LNB]He said: "I had a touch on the ball and the boy came through, pushed me down and never touched the ball.[LNB]"I saw Anthony Stokes make a run through and he finished it off, luckily enough for us.[LNB]"The penalty incident was exactly the same and if it had been anywhere else on the park, it would be a free kick.[LNB]"The ball was played in to me but it was behind me so I took a touch; I was just trying to get my body between the defender and the ball and he brought me down."[LNB]Nish spent four-and-a-half years at Kilmarnock before moving to Easter Road almost two years ago, and added: "Rugby Park isn't an easy place to come and I don't think we have a good record here.[LNB]"Kilmarnock are a good team and are very difficult to play against; it's always good for me to come back here as I love playing on the pitch here.[LNB]"We want to win every week, but from going 1-0 down it was good to get back into the game when it looked like we were maybe going to be beaten.[LNB]The draw saw Hibs extend their unbeaten league run to 11 matches, stretching back to September, and Nish was described by his manager after the game as Hibs' "best player of the past month".[LNB]The forward responded: "That's good to hear, it's not often he says things like that.[LNB]"The manager has just drummed into me what I've got to do and I'm clear about that so I'm just trying to carry that out."[LNB]Kilmarnock manager Jim Jefferies also had praise for opening scorer Mark Burchill, who reacted first to an Yves Ma-Kalambay error to put the hosts ahead nine minutes into the second half.[LNB]It was the 29-year-old's first goal for the club, on only his second start and fourth appearance in total following an injury-plagued spell since his summer arrival in Ayrshire.[LNB]Jefferies this week extended Burchill's original six-month contract until the end of the season, and praised his promising strike partnership with club captain Kevin Kyle.[LNB]The Rugby Park manager said: "Mark is clever - he feeds off Kevin and you can see little bits of crossing and movement that are typical Burchy.[LNB]"When he's in there and Kevin's challenging the goalie, Mark is the one who has the experience to know what to do when the ball is bouncing about in there.[LNB]"You want the first goal - and we maybe had shout for a penalty claim after that when Sol Bamba went right up with Kevin Kyle.[LNB]"The players felt there was a strong claim as they felt there was a handball there; I didn't see it myself but I knew from the players that it must have been close.[LNB]"When Derek Riordan hit the crossbar right at the end, I thought, 'Here we go again'; but that would have[LNB]been a real travesty."[LNB][LNB][LNB]
