Scotland striker Fletcher was the target of a failed bid from Celtic in January and is reportedly being tracked by Premier League sides Tottenham and Wigan. Hibs captain Jones has never hidden his desire to return to England and that has alerted West Brom, Nottingham Forest and Derby, who have been credited with an interest in the towering defender. Easter Road chairman Rod Petrie has stood firm in the past to get the best possible deal for the club but Paatelainen revealed there will be little they can do if a suitable offer arrives for a player. He said: "It is a difficult one because I do want to keep my best players and players who have been performing solidly all season. "There is no question I want to strengthen the team and keep our better players and hopefully add one or two. "That is progress and development. "Unfortunately, transfers are part and parcel of football. "Clubs might come in that offer the club the kind of fees they can't refuse." Paatelainen, meanwhile, insists he does not have to sell to raise funds for his summer signing plans. Despite Hibs having to tighten their belts in the midst of the global financial crisis, Paatelainen insists there is cash to add new recruits. He added: "I don't have to sell those players to bring in the players I want. "Finances are important and it's important to balance the books and make sure there is no deficit. "I make my recommendations on who I would like to keep in the squad and bring in. "Then the decision is made around the table and looking at various possibilities." Paatelainen is aware players could become disgruntled if Hibs knock back offers from others club and that is something he is keen to avoid. Speaking ahead of Sunday's Scottish Premier League clash at Aberdeen, where Hibs can climb above the Dons into fifth place if they win, he added: "It is very important to have a peaceful camp and a unique camp. "It's very important to have everybody motivated for the cause. "I would like to think if certain things don't happen to certain people then they realise it wasn't the time for them to move on. "I want them to get on with it then. You never know what might happen around the corner. You don't always get what you want." Meanwhile, Paatelainen, who has told striker Fabian Yantorno he will not be offered fresh terms, was non-committal over reports Hibs are interested in Livingston marksman Leigh Griffiths. He added: "Talks are continuing with our out-of-contract players. "We started that and we are carrying on. "I have been telling players now for quite a few weeks about whether they are staying or going." Aberdeen 5/6, Draw 5/2, Hibernian 10/3
