Fletcher's simple 80th-minute strike moved Hibs back into the top six of the Scottish Premier League on goal difference after Motherwell's injury-time defeat by Hearts. It was also Fletcher's first goal since November and Paatelainen was relieved to get some cheer after a difficult spell. "We're delighted," the Finn said. "We have been 1-0 ahead in matches recently and we conceded a goal and drew. It's fantastic to win. "I'm delighted with the goal and delighted for Fletcher to score because he missed a glorious chance before that. "But he kept going and it was a tremendous square ball from Derek (Riordan). "He hasn't scored for a while but every striker goes through that, and I hope there's plenty more to come." Paatelainen, who was without skipper Rob Jones because of a back problem, also praised central midfield pair John Rankin and Denes Rosa. "The spirit and the effort from everyone was top-drawer," he added. "The midfield worked really hard and they were ready for the second ball." Hamilton boss Billy Reid felt the defeat was unjust and he admitted inexperience had told after being hit by injuries. Midfielder James McArthur was sidelined by ligament damage while Martin Canning and Trent McClenehan joined fellow defender Mark McLaughlin on the sidelines. Reid said: "I think we deserved a point, we didn't deserve to win. In the first half we were slightly better but didn't create a lot. "Considering we had to make four changes, key players who would start, I was fairly happy at half-time. "We brought in two 19-year-olds. James Gibson is a left-back playing at centre-half and I thought he was outstanding. "And Jordan McMillan played his second SPL game. "We had five under-21s playing and at times it showed when Hibs broke. "When you see the goal, we were inexperienced. When you switch off against good players, you get caught."
