McNeil accepts Hibs fate

Hibernian goalkeeper Andrew McNeil accepts that he will have to leave the SPL club in the near future to try and move his career forward.

The 21-year-old has made just two starts since the end of August and has given up hope of making a positive impression on manager Mixu Paatelainen.

He told the Edinburgh Evening News: "I think when the manager brings in eight goalkeepers on trial in the space of six months and is in the paper saying he is looking to bring in experience, the writing is on the wall.

"I have come in and done well and been dropped twice. You would have to be an idiot to think you had a real long-term future at the club.

"That's the way it is sometimes, people have different ideas about what they want and what they require from players and sometimes you don't fit into that mould.

"I want to keep moving forward and getting better and if that means I have to go elsewhere, that is the way it is."
