Former Hibernian striker Garry O'Connor has won high praise from boss Alex McLeish after making a matchwinning return to the Scotland national team.
O'Connor, now with Lokomotiv Moscow has been out of the international picture since the 1-0 win over France last October, but was back to net the only goal of the game in the 1-0 friendly win in Austria.
McLeish said: "In this game, it is the players who get back up when they've been knocked down who can go on and have a good career.
"It doesn't matter how many times you get knocked down, it's how many times you get back up again that is important.
"Garry responded to the pressure on him by scoring the winning goal and having a very good partnership with Kris Boyd."
"I'm very pleased that Garry has made an impact and that was probably very important for him.
"We didn't feel it was a gamble to use Garry, because we know the qualities he can bring."
