Keeper off on trial in England

It seems Hibs have parted ways with goalkeeper Mark Brown today, with the news that he is on trial with Southend United.

The 31-year-old's contract at Easter Road ran out last month, but the Scotland B cap has been in discussions with the club all summer.

However, no agreement has been reached, and Brown has now been invited for a trial by Southend manager Paul Sturrock.

Brown's exit from Hibs, was on the cards when manager Pat Fenlon signed Ben Williams from Colchester a few weeks ago, and it was further confirmed yesterday when exciting youngster Calum Antell signed a new contract.

The former Rangers & Celtic keeper has a few options down south, should he fail to impress Sturrock, with both Bradford City and Brentford said to be monitoring the situation.

Brown, who also previously played for Motherwell & Inverness Caledonian Thistle, joined the Hibees in January 2010 after his Celtic contract expired.

In all he only managed 33 games for Hibs, his last coming in the Scottish Cup Final in May.
