Hibernian have announced the signing of Lithuania striker Valdas Trakys until the end of the season following a successful trial.[LNB] The 31-year-old, who has 11 caps for his country, becomes Hibs' seventh summer signing after impressing manager John Hughes in training.[LNB]Hibs are waiting for confirmation of international clearance for Trakys, who could make his debut in Saturday's Scottish Premier League clash with Hamilton at Easter Road.[LNB]Trakys was a free agent after leaving Greek club Panserraikos and heard complimentary noises about Edinburgh and Hibs from his numerous compatriots at Hearts.[LNB]Trakys, who also impressed Hughes in a closed-doors friendly with Dundee United last Tuesday, is eager to get started.[LNB]Trakys told www.hibernianfc.co.uk: "I'm really pleased to sign for Hibernian - a big club with a great history and ambitious plans for the future.[LNB]"I already knew a lot about Scottish football before, but I never fully appreciated what an impressive club Hibernian was until I met with the manager and had a look around the stadium.[LNB]"Throughout my career, I have always tried to make an impact in the team immediately and I want that to continue with Hibernian.[LNB]"I know quite a few players who have links with Hearts and they have all said what a wonderful city Edinburgh is and that my style will suit the Scottish game.[LNB]"I just want to get on the pitch as soon as possible."[LNB]Anthony Stokes departed Hibs for Celtic on transfer deadline day, meaning Hughes had a void to fill up front.[LNB]He recruited Darryl Duffy on loan from Bristol Rovers, but the striker is expected to be out for several weeks with a foot injury.[LNB]Hughes said: "Valdas is a player who has been on our radar for a while now and, over the past week, we have been able to run the rule over his credentials and he certainly fits the bill.[LNB]"He has lot of experience and a good physical presence - he will give us a different option up front and we're pleased to be able to bring him into the club.[LNB]"Even once the (transfer) window closed, we have been working hard to try and strengthen the team and we believe Valdas will prove to be a very useful acquisition."
