Injured O'Brien opts for op

Hibs winger Alan O'Brien faces up to six more weeks on the sidelines after being forced to have a knee operation.

The Republic of Ireland international has not played for five weeks and decided to have surgery to get to the root of the problem.

Boss Mixu Paatelainen told the Edinburgh Evening News: "Once the surgeon got inside the knee he found exactly what our physio expected and so he did what was required there and then.

"As a result Alan will be out for between four and six weeks. It's obviously disappointing for him as he'd started the season so well, but the good thing is it removes the uncertainty."
