Hughes set to axe Bamba

Hibernian defender Sol Bamba appears to be on his way out of Easter Road after being left out of John Hughes' squad for the Europa League clash with Maribor.

The 25-year-old Ivory Coast defender reported back late for training and has been banished to train with the youth team squad as a consequence.

Boss Hughes told The Scotsman: "He's here, but he won't be travelling.

"He came back this morning (Tuesday), which is obviously too late to come with us to Europe. We have been preparing since 1 July and I don't want any distractions.

"He trained with the kids this morning. My focus is on the team and the squad going to Maribor, it's as simple as that.

"Once we get back we will sit down and see where we are and then get this out of the way."
