Hibernian's new manager John Hughes has admitted to being disappointed that Abdessalam Benjelloun has opted to leave the club to join Egyptian side Al-Ahly.
The 24-year-old Morocco international had been expected back at Easter Road this summer, having spent last term on loan in Belgium with Charleroi and Roselare.
However, Benjelloun has now agreed a three-year deal which will see him move a lot closer to his homeland.
Hughes told The Scotsman: "I know that he was given permission to talk to other clubs and I am disappointed that he didn't want to come back.
"I want to work with players who are committed and want to play for the jersey."
