Hughes upset by Hibs boo boys

John Hughes believes Hibernian are on the verge of an Easter Road win after having their winless run there extended to nine games by Hamilton.[LNB] Derek Riordan netted a ninth-minute opener, hit the bar with a free-kick soon afterwards and Colin Nish had a second-half effort ruled out for offside as Hibs were again left frustrated and booed off by their own supporters for the second successive week.[LNB]Hughes was satisfied with the display, but rued another home game going by without collecting three points.[LNB]"It goes with the territory, but it's still disappointing when they boo," said Hughes, whose side last won at home on March 6.[LNB]"I can understand it, but did they deserve to get booed? Results wise, possibly; effort wise, certainly not.[LNB]"You need to rise above it and the only way to turn it around is by starting to play winning football.[LNB]"We're not too far away - it will definitely come."[LNB]Accies troubled the hosts on the break and were worthy of Marco Paixao's 22nd-minute equaliser following Nigel Hasselbaink's strong run.[LNB]"Defensively I thought it was a cheap goal to give away," said Hughes.[LNB]The Hibs boss was adamant his side had scored a second only to be denied by the referee's assistant as Nish was ruled offside when tucking in Daniel Galbraith's cross.[LNB]"The luck is just not with us because Derek's free-kick, sometimes that can come off the underside of the bar and go in, and Nish's goal was onside," said Hughes.[LNB]"It's definitely onside. I've got the benefit of going to look at ProZone and when Danny Galbraith cut it back and you look at the cut of the grass on the pitch, that tells you.[LNB]"That's the things that go against you.[LNB]"That's really disappointing."[LNB]Hughes believes his side were strong in the second period, but conceded they needed to improve for the win to come.[LNB]"We needed to show a bit more quality to win it," he said.[LNB]"It was evident once we scored that we stopped playing.[LNB]"Once we scored we needed to try and get another one.[LNB]"But we need to regroup and go again.[LNB]"The good thing is you get a chance on Wednesday night to try and get it right against Kilmarnock."[LNB]Hamilton were seeking their second win of the season and were without a victory at Easter Road since the 1986/87 campaign.[LNB]Manager Billy Reid was pleased with the point.[LNB]"I think over the 90 minutes maybe a draw was the right result," he said.[LNB]Reid was disappointed with the goal given away, but pleased with his side's response.[LNB]"We gave a suicidal goal away," he said.[LNB]"But we bounced back in a place that's not been kind to us.[LNB]"We've never picked up a point here in the SPL since I've been here."[LNB]Soon after the visitors were reprieved after Nish's disallowed effort, Marco Paixao, who will be 26 tomorrow along with his twin brother Flavio, missed a gilt-edged chance when through one on one with Mark Brown.[LNB]Reid rued the missed opportunity and believes the Paixao twins must improve their final ball.[LNB]"We had a great chance at the end with Marco Paixao - I thought he should have scored and made it 2-1," he said.[LNB]"The Paixao twins are nearly top players.[LNB]"If they took the right option at times they can be top players, but they frustrate me and they frustrate their team-mates, because they take the wrong option at times after working so hard."
