Hughes: Miss was crucial

Hibs manager John Hughes was left to rue a miss from Edwin de Graaf as his men went down 3-0 to Rangers.

There was no score when de Graaf failed to find an open goal as he was blocked off by Madjid Bougherra and Kenny Miller's hat-trick then went on to sink the Easter Road club.

"It was fantastic defending and he showed a great desire to defend," Hughes said. "Maybe Edwin might have been a little bit more decisive and thrown himself at it. I felt if we had scored first it would have given us a chance but that's the way football is.

"I'll sit back and analyse it. From what I've seen, we've still got a bit of work in front of us. I'm disappointed we didn't score, I always fancy us for a goal, and I don't think 3-0 was a true reflection on the game. "But that's football. You're playing against the Scottish champions and they punished us. I just need to take it on the chin and move on."
