Hibs swoop for midfield duo

Hibernian have signed two new midfielders after allowing David Murphy to join Birmingham City.

Mixu Paatelainen has snapped up Ian Murray, who has had his contract at Norwich City terminated, on a short-term contract until the end of the season.

The 26-year-old midfielder started his career at Easter Road before moving on to Rangers in the summer of 2005.

Murray then signed for the Canaries last summer after making 60 appearances for the Gers, but failed to impress at Carrow Road, playing only 11 games for the club and none since early November.

Hibs have also signed Inverness Caledonian Thistle midfielder John Rankin.
