Hibs star backs Gers in controversy
Published : 14 May 2009 12:11:19Rss feed

Hibs were leading 1-0 when Nacho Novo claimed his shot had crossed the line before being cleared by Ross Chisholm, but assistant referee Martin Cryans disagreed. Novo later equalised but Rangers were left seething at a decision that might have cost them top spot going into the final two games of the season. Stevenson told the Evening Times: "From the angle I was looking at it, from inside the penalty box, I thought it was in. Chis did really well to get it away, but I thought it was a goal." Novo claimed Stevenson is not the only Hibs player to believe a goal should have been given. He said: "The ball was definitely in - even their players told me that. "They admitted the ball was over the line themselves but there's nothing else you can say. Sometimes things go against you, but you just need to keep going."
