Hibs sign midfielder Paul Cairney
Partick player heads to Easter Road
Hibs boss Pat Fenlon has this morning unvieled his third signing of the summer transfer window.
Following on from last week's capture of Motherwell defender Tim Clancy and yesterday's revealing of new captain James Mcpake from Coventry City, Hibs have landed Partick Thistle midfielder Paul Cairney.
Cairney, 24, has signed a two-year-deal at Easter Road, and will join up with the rest of the squad who returned to pre-season training this morning.
He played over 107 games for Glasgow's second club, and scored 20 goals.
Hibs boss Pat Fenlon was delighted to land the former Queen of the South kid, he said:
"Paul is a player who has been on our radar for a while now and we're delighted to be able to add him to the squad for the new season.
"He will offer us something different - he is a midfielder, who likes to get forward and is always looking to spark a game into life.
"He can play in a number of positions both in midfield and in the forward areas and can finish well when he gets the chance.
"Paul has also got a fantastic attitude and never hides in a game; he is always looking to get on the ball. Plus he has the drive and ambition to help us to move forward as a team.
"We're pleased with the progress we're making on the transfer front but we're hopeful we can add some more new faces in the near future."
Cairney was also delighted to be heading to the SPL with the Hibees, he said:
"It's absolutely amazing to sign for Hibernian - it's definitely the highlight of my career so far.
"But this is just the start of it all, now I want to show the Hibs fans what I'm all about by working hard and playing my part in helping the team to achieve success.
"Hibs are a massive club, everything is in place for us to kick on and have a strong season. I'm going to be doing everything I can to make sure that happens and I'm really excited about the future."
Welcome to the Hibees Paul, from everyone at Hibernian-Mad.
