Hibs rule out Anderson swoop

Hibernian boss John Hughes has ruled out the possibility of signing former Aberdeen captain Russell Anderson in the transfer window.

The experienced defender has been strongly linked with a move to Easter Road after finding himself out in the cold at Sunderland, but Hughes insists the 31-year-old former Don is not on his January shopping list.

"I would like to think there will be something happening in the window but it certainly won't be Russell Anderson," he told the Edinburgh Evening News.

"There are specific targets but it is more about what positions we need.

"I want a squad where there's competition for places, two for each position."
