Hibernian have completed the signing of Dutch central defender Shelton Martis from League Two Darlington.

The 23-year-old put pen to paper on a three-year deal at Easter Road after the two clubs agreed a compensation package for the player, who was on a week-to-week contract at Darlington.

Hibs boss Tony Mowbray told the club's official website: "We are delighted to add Shelton to the squad.

"He is someone we watched on a regular basis last season including when he opted not to re-sign a new long term contract at Darlington.

"I watched him in action myself and decided he is a player we wanted.

"Whilst he is still relatively young for a centre half, he is a composed, athletic and competitive defender and I am sure will be a good addition to our squad."
