Hibs close to landing McPake and Clancy??

Defensive pair on the way to Easter Road???

According to reports in tonight's press Hibs are closing in on two new signings.

The Hibees are said to be in discussions with former loan player James McPake about a permanent move to Easter Road.

The Coventry City defender was a revelation in the centre of defence as Hibs fought off the threat of relegation and made it to the Scottish Cup Final.

Pat Fenlon wants to build his defence round the former Livingston player, and the 27-year-old is said to be keen on a return to Edinburgh.

McPake has flown out on holiday with his family, but the club are talking to his representitives daily.

The other player said to be close to signing for the Hibees is Motherwell defender Tim Clancy.

The 27-year-old is out-of-contract in the next few weeks, and has apparently told Motherwell boss Stuart McCall that he is leaving Fir Park.

Hibs are said to have entered contract talks with the Irish defender and are close to agreeing a deal.

Clancy signed from Kilmarnock last summer on a 12 month deal, and has been superb in the Motherwell defence this season.

He can play at either full back position or as a centre back.

Hibs chief Rod Petrie and manager Pat Fenlon have both been working long hours to try and push both deals through as quickly as possible, as Fenlon begins to completely re-build his squad for the new season.
