Rangers target set for Easter Road
Hibs are close to landing Honduras international Jorge Claros.
The 26-year-old has been on trial with Rangers for the last two weeks, and the SPL champs were keen on signing him, but had a bid thrown out by his club Motagua.
The Honduran club labbeling the offer as "absurd", with the club said to be looking for £800,000 for his signature.
Hibs boss Pat Fenlon has moved quickly and offered the player, known as "The Pitbull", a trial at the club's East Mains training facility.
Claros apparently sailed through a 1-1 bounce match with Carlisle, and Hibs are currently talking to the player about a move to Edinburgh.
Hibees boss Pat Fenlon said:
"He did train with us and we are talking at the moment."We are interested in him and we will see what happens. That's really where it stands at the moment."
It's not clear yet wether the Hibees have tabled a cash offer for the player, or if it will be a loan deal, but Motagua have put the following statement on their official site:
"Jorge Claros is staying in Scotland with Hibernian FC. He has trained with his new team and will sign pending a work permit."
Claros has been capped at U20, U23 level and has 29 caps for his country, and would be a fantastic signing for the Hibees should the pull it off.
