Hibs Chariman Rod Petrie thanks supporters

The tache thanks for support

On the back of his plea last week, for more Hibs supporters to get to game's to help the club in the transfer market, Chairman Rod Petrie has come out and thanked the fans.

The crowd at Easter Road on Saturday was up slightly again this week, with 10,700 turning up for the 2-1 home win over St Mirren.

9,972 of those were Hibees, meaning the crowd was up about 1,000 on the average from last season, as the crowds start to slowly trickle back to Easter Road after a horrible 2-3 years the club was went through.

Pat Fenlon's side currently sit equal top of the SPL with Champions Celtic on 21 points, and Petrie thanked supporters for their contribution, speaking to the official site, he said:

"The Club would like to thank everyone who attended Easter Road Stadium on Saturday. There is no doubt that on this occasion the crowd helped pull the team through a difficult match. Well done to everyone concerned.

"Attendances have grown steadily in the first part of the Season. On average, the number of Hibernian supporters attending matches is about 1,000 per game up on attendances last season but that is still about 1,000 per game down on two seasons ago.

"We want to fill Easter Road Stadium for every match. The next home game against Dundee United is a challenge on two fronts - firstly Dundee United will be tough opponents having held the SPL Champions yesterday; and secondly because our game kicks off at 12.45 on Sunday, live on Sky Sports.

"As it is Remembrance Sunday there will be a minute's silence before kick off when we can acknowledge the sacrifice made for our freedom.

"Hopefully Hibernian supporters will want to attend Easter Road Stadium in good time to pay their respects as the Hibernian Family and then to play their part in helping the team continue on it's winning ways."
