Young Hibees progress in the Scottish Youth Cup

Hibs U20 side progressed into the next round of the Scottish Youth Cup this afternoon, following an emphatic win over Ross County at East Mains.

Hibs, who have been having an excellent season, came flying out the traps, and nearly took the lead through Crane after less than two minutes, when he headed over an inviting cross.

Todd and Beaton were combining well in the Hibees engine room, and it was no surprise when they linked well to set-up young striker David Paul, to open the scoring after 15 minutes.

Hibs continued to dominate the game, and created a number of chances, but it took until just before half time to add a second, and it was no surprise that it was the menacing looking David Paul who added his and Hibs second to make it 2-0.

The first half ended with Hibs well in control, and looking good value for their lead.

HT: Hibs 2-0 Ross County

The Hibees started the second half how they ended the first - on top.

The Impressive Beaton was again at the Heart of things, and it was no suprise when he supplied a sublime pass in to the path of Euan Smith to make it 3-0 on 55 minutes.

Ross County got themselves back in the game just three minutes later, when Hibs defender Bradley Donaldson gave away a penalty, which Laim Hutchison duly converted to make it 3-1.

Hibs then added number four on 77 minutes, when Jason Cummings supplied a neat finish, and all but secure the young Hibees passage into the next round.

David Paul came close to grabbing his hat-rick a few minutes later, but was thwarted by a superb save from the Staggies keeper.

HIbs then made a substitute with 10 minutes remaining, when Baptie replaced Todd.

The substitution was to prove a masterstroke, when Baptie put in a superb cross that Jason Cummings converted for his second, and put Hibs 5-1 in the lead.

Hibs then made a double substitution, with goalscorers Cummings and Paul going off, and being replaced by McCaffrey and U17 player Docherty.

The Hibees seen out the game and secured their passage into the next round.
