Ex Aberdeen centre half sings new deal at Derby It has been revealed today that Hibs boss John Hughes has missed out on one of his top summer transfer targets. Former Aberdeen captain, and Scotland international Russell Anderson was high on Hughes’ wanted list this summer, but the defender has signed a new deal with Derby County. Anderson, 31, has signed a new 2-year-deal with the Rams, despite reports that suggested he would like to return to Scotland for family reasons. Hibs were said to be facing competition for his signature from Dundee United, but both sides must now look elsewhere. Hughes is looking to bolster his squad this summer, with the Hibees said to be tracking Motherwell’s Jim O’Brien and Aberdeen’s full back Charlie Mulgrew, amongst others.
