Hibs midfielder Kevin Thomson has been called upto the Scotland squad, for the double header against Belgium and Macedonia.
Thomson, 28, has been excellent since re-signing for the Hibees, and fully deserves his call-up.
Scotland play Belgium at Hampden on Friday 6th September 2013, and then Macedonia in Skopje on Tuesday 10th September 2013, in a World Cup qualifying double header.
Thomson has so far only been capped 3 times at full international level despite playing at the highest level with Rangers, and then Middlesbrough, although he has had some horrible injuries over his career.
The full Scotland squad is as follows:
GoalkeepersMatt Gilks (Blackpool) David Marshall (Cardiff City) Allan McGregor (Hull City)* Craig Samson (Kilmarnock) DefendersIkechi Anya (Watford)Gordon Greer (Brighton and Hove Albion) Grant Hanley (Blackburn Rovers) Alan Hutton (Aston Villa) Russell Martin (Norwich City) Charlie Mulgrew (Celtic) Lee Wallace (Rangers) Steven Whittaker (Norwich City) MidfieldersCharlie Adam (Stoke City) Barry Bannan (Aston Villa) George Boyd (Hull City) Scott Brown (Celtic) Craig Bryson (Derby County)Chris Burke (Birmingham City) Craig Conway (Cardiff City) Graham Dorrans (West Bromwich Albion) - withdrawn James Forrest (Celtic) James McArthur (Wigan Athletic) James Morrison (West Bromwich Albion) - withdrawn Steven Naismith (Everton) Robert Snodgrass (Norwich City) Kevin Thomson (Hibernian) ForwardsLeigh Griffiths (Wolverhampton Wanderers) Jamie Mackie (Nottingham Forest) Shaun Maloney (Wigan Athletic) Ross McCormack (Leeds United) Jordan Rhodes (Blackburn Rovers)*Suspended for match against Belgium
Thomson's last appearance for Scotland came back in 2010, against Sweden in a 3-0 loss. Ironically, he was subbed in that game and replaced with current Hibs team mate Scott Robertson.
Good luck Kev.
