Hibs keeper Graeme Smith told he can go

The Calderwood cull continues Goalkeeper Graeme Smith has become the latest player to be told his Easter Road career is over. The 27-year-old former Rangers, Motherwell and Brighton player has been told that he will not be offered an extension when his deal expires in the summer. Smith joined the Hibees in January 2010 from Brighton as former manager John Hughes tried to implement a “goalkeeping school” at Easter Road, with Mark Brown and Graham Stack already on the books at the club. The Scotland B international is now free to find a new club after Hibs boss Colin Calderwood, once again, wielded the axe. Calderwood has already let Chris Hogg, Lee Currie, Merouane Zemmama, Sol Bamba and Jonathan Grounds leave the club in January. Colin Nish, John Rankin, Kevin McBride, Valdas Trakys, Ewan Moyes, Thomas Flynn and now Smith (who are all out-of-contract in the summer) have all been told they can leave the club. The cull down Leith is not yet finished, with Steven Thicot, Kevin McCann, Graham Stack, Darryl Duffy and Francis Dickoh all thought to be facing the chop. Lewis Stevenson, Derek Riordan, Ricardo Vaz Te are amongst others who are also out-of-contract at the club. Graeme Smith only managed 16 appearances for the Hibees, but Hibernian-Mad would like to wish him all the very best for the future.
