Hibs forward Anthony Stokes joins Celtic in £1.3m deal

Goal machine joins lesser greens Hibs striker Anthony Stokes has today signed for Celtic on a 4-year-deal. The fee is reported to be a paltry £1.3m, with only £800,000 up front, and the rest in add-ons. Take into account that Sunderland are due 20% of any profit made, and Hibs have let him go for peanuts. So far both Rod Petrie and manager John Hughes have failed to comment on the transfer, but the Hibs fans will be looking for answers. Once again, selling one of our best players to one of the ugly sisters, leaves a dark cloud over a transfer window that, so far, has been quite promising. What’s also confusing, is that Sky Sports stated that Hibs had turned down a £2.5m bid last week, and were looking for £4m!! Let’s hope Hibs release a statement in the next few days, as the support deserve a explanation, at losing our top goal scorer, who scored 23 goals last season. Stokes only spent 12 months in Edinburgh, scoring 24 goals in 44 games, following a reported £500,000 transfer from premiership side Sunderland.
