Martin Boyle salvages a point for Hibs against St Mirren

Hibernian's winning streak came to an end and they had to come from a goal down to rescue a 1-1 draw with St Mirren at Easter Road.

Martin Boyle's header just before half-time cancelled out Calum Gallagher's low finish to grab a point for Hibs, who had won their last five matches in all competitions but now sit eight points behind runaway Scottish Championship leaders Rangers.

The Leith club, who had beaten top-flight leaders Aberdeen in the League Cup in midweek, started strongly but fell behind in the 18th minute when Gallagher sprung the offside trap and slotted under goalkeeper Mark Oxley.

The hosts responded positively and only a decent save from Jamie Langfield denied striker Boyle on the half hour but the pressure eventually told three minutes before the break.

Liam Henderson's cross to the back post was diverted back across goal by David Gray, allowing Boyle to level with a diving header.

John McGinn saw two efforts saved at the beginning of the second half while Liam Fontaine headed over the bar as Hibs went on the attack.

Lewis Stevenson then saw a cross hit the bar while Langfield held on to a header from Dominique Malonga as the spoils were shared.
