CC keen to strike first at Ibrox
Hibernian boss Colin Calderwood has told his players they must retain their goal threat if they are to repeat last season's shock win at Ibrox.[LNB] Hibs face Clydesdale Bank Premier League leaders Rangers on a good goalscoring run having netted 10 in four games, although they have conceded almost as many in that time.[LNB]Garry O'Connor took his tally to 10 goals in 11 games with a double in the 3-2 win over St Johnstone on Wednesday and looks confident of scoring against anyone.[LNB]Calderwood understands the importance of scoring the first goal against Rangers, as Liam Miller did in the sixth minute of Hibernian's 3-0 win in Govan in November last year.[LNB]"They have good individual players but they're a good team, a team designed to win and they know how to win," Calderwood told Hibernian TV.[LNB]"Their quality is undoubted but they produce victories when teams think they have done pretty well against them.[LNB]"So we have got to make sure we're not a team that just plays well and gets beat - we have to be an effective team.[LNB]"On saying that, we have got a goalscoring threat, you need that going away to play the Old Firm.[LNB]"That's one thing last season's victory at Ibrox proved - if you can score first, it changes the mentality of everyone within the ground.[LNB]"We haven't done that in any other game against the Old Firm so it's something that's to the forefront of my mind."[LNB]The victory at Ibrox was Calderwood's first as Hibs boss and followed a derby defeat against Hearts but his side go into this game in more confident mood after steadying their disappointing start to the campaign with a five-match unbeaten run.[LNB]The Hibs boss added: "We were in a place where no-one expected the result. We got through the early period without conceding and we were good in possession of the ball for long periods.[LNB]"If we are good in possession and have a goal threat, that will give us as chance of winning. I think that will be the basis of it."[LNB]The match sees Calderwood come up against former Scotland team-mate Ally McCoist for the first time since he took over at Ibrox.[LNB]"I haven't been in touch," Calderwood said. "I'm sure his schedule is busier than mine and I have had plenty to concentrate on here.[LNB]"But it's nice to catch up with him and Ian Durrant. The first occasion I probably met both of them was at Lilleshall when we were all rehabbing from injury.[LNB]"Their volleyball skills when we were skating about in the gym were top quality.[LNB]"They were a double act then and they're a double act now."[LNB]
