Calderwood wants to keep run going

Hibernian manager Colin Calderwood is aiming up the table after his side clinched a fifth successive Clydesdale Bank Premier League win with a 2-1 triumph at Hamilton.

Goals in each half from Akpo Sodje and Derek Riordan put Hibs up to eighth in the table, three points off the top six. A charge for a top-half finish is now on the agenda for a team who were one of the main candidates for relegation after stretching a winless run to 12 games in January.

"We need to get ourselves in a position when we're within a game and then a weekend of fixtures might change it," Calderwood said. "We will need to utilise the squad but what we've got is the roll of the ball at the minute and I just hope they appreciate the hard work that has gone into it."

Calderwood was still not satisfied with the performance despite keeping out Accies until Flavio Paixao netted deep in injury-time. "I'm delighted to get a win," he said.

"Disappointment is not the right word but we can see we have got a lot of improvement in terms of being able to control a game we get ahead in. We found a Hamilton team who gave everything and the quality of the ball they put in our box was good.

"So I might criticise one or two things but I'm sure when I reassess the game later I'll be happier than I was in the second half.

"We had to work really hard to keep it, there were some good blocks by (Paul) Hanlon and (Graeme) Smith. The moments of quality contributed to our goals and that's what we want to see more of."

Smith had come on for Graham Stack after the goalkeeper suffered a shoulder injury.

Calderwood said: "The doctor is quite concerned about him, he felt terrible when he was in the dressing room.

"He has really taken a sore one. It's definitely not a dislocation but there has obviously been some disruption in there."
