Calderwood takes rough with smooth

Hibernian manager Colin Calderwood was refreshingly candid when asked for his thoughts on referee Steve Conroy's performance after his side's 2-1 home win over Kilmarnock. In a controversial match handled by referee Steve Conroy, the home side took the lead in the 52nd minute when Akpo Sodje opened the scoring despite appearing to trip Kilmarnock defender Manuel Pascali and the Leith club doubled their advantage through Victor Palsson from the penalty spot after Mohamadou Sissoko's arm caught Derek Riordan in the face. Kilmarnock reduced the arrears in the 74th minute when Jamie Hamill converted a penalty after Francis Dickoh was sent off for a professional foul on Kieran Agard. Calderwood said: "For the first goal, I would not have been surprised if it (a foul) had been given but I think he (Sodje) has tried his best to keep out of his road. "Their player tried to shield the ball and we're grateful it was play on and we scored. For the penalty, an arm comes across but I would hate to have a penalty given against me like that, but we'll take it. "At 2-0 you want to have more control. I know what we can do better and I've told the boys what that is. The penalty made it exciting and with Francis getting sent off."
