Calderwood planning ahead

Colin Calderwood hopes to mould his Hibernian team into shape in the final six matches of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League campaign in order to achieve more next season.

Hibs finished fourth last term but a poor start contributed to the departure of John Hughes in October and Calderwood's appointment. Calderwood won two of his first 17 games in charge as his side struggled towards the foot of the table, before a run of five straight wins resurrected Hibs' season.

However, the turnaround was not enough to clinch a place in the top six and Hibs enter Sunday's match with bottom club Hamilton seeking to finish the season with a flourish. Calderwood said: "We don't have the excitement of being in the top six, but we've got lots to play for - only for ourselves."

He added: "We've got to look after what we do.

"We've got to be professional and we've got to build on the momentum and the run we're on. We want to finish as positively as we can.

"It will be a good examination of our professionalism and also the level that we can achieve and that's what really interests me in the games coming up."

Due to the SPL split, which occurs after Sunday's match, Hibs can place seventh at best.
