Calderwood pinpoints Hibs weakness

Hibernian manager Colin Calderwood will continue to focus on his team's defending after being concerned by the way they were cut open during their 2-1 defeat at Kilmarnock.

Ben Gordon twice set up Liam Kelly to sweep home from inside the penalty box as Kilmarnock moved into fifth place in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.

Hibs remain rooted in the bottom six after suffering five defeats in eight games since Calderwood took over from the sacked John Hughes, and the former Nottingham Forest manager said: "It looks quite easy to score against us and that's something we've got to look at."

He added: "It's not as if we're stretched, we've got enough bodies back. It's then the responsibility of those in the areas of the pitch.

"Both goals come from round about the same area and I think it's the same player.

"They are not soft goals because they are good goals from their aspect, but it just looked a wee bit too tame."

Hibs showed enough threat in the half to convince former manager Mixu Paatelainen they will soon be challenging his Kilmarnock team in the top six.

Paatelainen said: "All credit to Hibs, they are a good team. It won't be long before they are back up the league table because they can cause problems to any team.

"Thankfully we held on. Sometimes we rode our luck but the boys fought hard to win the game.

"In the second half they had a lot of the ball and pinned us back. We had to change our shape to cope with the players they were pushing forward."
