Calderwood keeps feet on the ground

Colin Calderwood told his Hibernian team to remain grounded after securing a fourth successive Clydesdale Bank Premier League win with a 2-0 victory over Inverness at Easter Road.

Callum Booth and Lewis Stevenson each scored their first Hibs goals as Calderwood's men secured a 100% record from four games in February to move within five points of sixth-placed Inverness with the SPL split approaching.

Calderwood, whose side remain 10th despite the victory and face bottom club Hamilton on Tuesday night, said: "We've had a good day, but it took a terrific goal to break the deadlock."

He added: "It's a terrific win, because they're a side that are extremely difficult to beat and it took something quite special to get us the victory. This result helps, it gets us closer to Inverness and it concertinas the league.

"It's a help to everyone - other teams will be as pleased with our result as we are. But it's important with two games this week we've got to keep stepping forward, it's only a marker. Tuesday night will be another indication - a step forward or a step back."

Booth made his Hibs first-team debut in last month's Scottish Cup fourth-round replay loss at Irn-Bru Second Division Ayr and his side's fortunes have changed ever since.

The left-back has been impressive in attack and defence on the flank and took his goal well following Derek Riordan's quick throw-in.

Calderwood believes there is more to come from Booth, who came through the youth-team ranks.

He added: "We should really highlight a terrific goal by a terrific player. It was a really composed performance and he's just got to keep his feet on the ground and keep producing.

"I think he's got even more quality than he's shown in the first-team arena so far."
