Calderwood eyeing top six

Hibernian manager Colin Calderwood says his Hibernian side must aim for a top-six place but his primary focus is on victory over St Johnstone in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League this Saturday.

Just a few weeks ago Hibs were relegation candidates, but now, with the SPL split approaching, a place in the top half of the table is possible after five successive wins ahead of this Saturday's trip to Perth.

Calderwood said: "We've got to try and chase it. It's not really what we're looking at - our focus is on the next game. Absolutely everything, the entirety of it is only this game. We've got to focus on the next step."

Calderwood was on Thursday named Clydesdale Bank Premier League Manager of the Month for February after ending a 12-game winless streak with a 100% record from their four matches.

It was a double success for Hibs, with left-back Callum Booth named Young Player of the Month.

Tuesday's win at Hamilton stretched the winning run into March and Calderwood is determined it continues at McDiarmid Park on Saturday with a sixth straight success.

"It's about winning the next one," he added.

"We've got three away fixtures in a row - we started with a victory at Hamilton and we'll need to do it again.

"To keep up with the teams around about us we're going to have to win and that's the intention."
