Butcher: Don't blame Rooney loss
Terry Butcher does not believe Adam Rooney's exit is the reason for Inverness' lack of goals, despite seeing Caley lose 1-0 to Hibernian.[LNB] Inverness have failed to find the target in their opening two Scottish Premier League fixtures.[LNB]Garry O'Connor's stoppage-time goal gave Hibs victory on Saturday, the defeat coming seven days after Caley Thistle lost 3-0 at Motherwell on the opening day of the season.[LNB]Rooney, Caley Thistle's top scorer for the past two seasons, opted to turn down the offer of a new contract at Inverness and instead made the move to Birmingham, but manager Butcher maintains the departure of the forward is not the reason why his team have yet to get off the mark this campaign.[LNB]Butcher said: "Adam Rooney played a lot of games for Caley Thistle in which he didn't score, so it's certainly not anything to do with that.[LNB]"Against Hibs we did everything but score. We hit the post - the third time we've done that this season - while I think we had a few cases in the Hibs match for penalties.[LNB]"I would be more worried if we were losing games and not creating chances, but that's not the case.[LNB]"I have seen enough belief and heart from our two performances so far this season to suggest that we'll bounce back. We've played some great football and there is a lot more to come from this squad."[LNB]Match-winner O'Connor was the hero for Hibs as he scored his first goal of the season in what is his second stint with the club.[LNB]Hibees manager Colin Calderwood felt the striker had opportunities to put himself on the scoresheet before then, but was delighted to see him score the game's deciding goal right at the end.[LNB]He said: "It's only Garry's second 90 minutes and I'm sure he is going to do better.[LNB]"He'll probably be disappointed that he didn't score in the first half, but he showed his value to the team by scoring an important goal in what was an important time in the match."
