Brown eyes second chance

Hibernian goalkeeper Simon Brown is hoping to earn a run in the Easter Road first-team after a solid display in the goalless draw at Dundee United.

The 30-year-old Englishman had not featured for six months, but was called up after Andy McNeil was injured in training and Zibi Malkowski had been forced to return to Poland on family business.

He repaid boss John Collin's faith with a competent display at Tannadice, before telling the Daily Record: "It was really difficult after I was dropped - especially when I didn't get a proper explanation from the manager.

"You train all week then at the weekend you do nothing and it tests your levels of professionalism.

"You start to think about chucking it, but then you get a chance again, like I did against Dundee United, and it's all worthwhile again.

"When you get your chance you have to take it and I hope I am now in the manager's thoughts for the next game."
