Brown relishing Hibs challenge

And he is adamant he has not walked into another goalkeeping nightmare after joining Hibernian on a two-and-half-year contract.[LNB]Brown, 28, ended his frustrating three-year spell at Parkhead last weekend, having barely reached double figures in terms of appearances.[LNB]On the face of it, he has signed for a club where his opportunities could be even more limited, having become the fourth first-team keeper at Easter Road.[LNB]But the former Inverness star is certain he can force his way into John Hughes' plans - something he decided he was never going to do at Celtic as long ago as December 2008.[LNB]"I'd spoken to the manager but until they got someone in to replace me, he said he needed me to stay," said Brown, who joined the Hoops from Inverness in January 2007.[LNB]"You've made the decision to go there and once you're there, there's nothing you can do - you just need to get on with your job."[LNB]He added: "It was frustrating.[LNB]"But Artur Boruc, he's a fantastic goalkeeper.[LNB]"Okay, he's had some problems maybe recently.[LNB]"But after the Euros, they were talking about him being one of the two or three top goalkeepers in Europe.[LNB]"So it's no disgrace not playing ahead of him."[LNB]Brown now finds himself behind Graeme Smith in the pecking order, his former Rangers team-mate having quickly become Hibs number one after joining the club last month.[LNB]"I wouldn't come here if I didn't think I could get in the first team," Brown said.[LNB]"I've seen most of the games he's played in, he's done fantastically well - I actually know him from when we were both kids at Rangers.[LNB]"He's the man in possession just now but I think all I can do is just come to training, work hard and try to push him all the way.[LNB]"If and when you get an opportunity, you just have to go out there and grab it."[LNB]Brown, who spent the first half of the season on loan at Kilmarnock, had "no hesitation" joining Hibs, despite fears he may end up frozen out again.[LNB]And although he accepts quitting Celtic is the equivalent of taking a step backwards, he believes he has signed for the third best club in Scotland.[LNB]"If you're leaving one half of the Old Firm, the next best place to go would be Hibs," he said.[LNB]"It didn't take me too long to make a decision to come here."[LNB]With Hughes likely to stick with Smith for Saturday's Active Nation Scottish Cup fifth-round tie with Montrose, Brown, Graham Stack and Yves Ma-Kalambay will all be vying for a place on the bench.[LNB]Should Brown get the nod, it would be the first step toward establishing himself at a club whose chances of splitting the Old Firm in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League he refused to rule out.[LNB]"When you look at the squad, it is a great squad," Brown said.[LNB]"Come the end of the season, we'll know the answer to that question."[LNB][LNB][LNB]
