Bamba: Elephants mustn't rely on stars

Ivory Coast defender Sol Bamba says they cannot afford to rely on their big-name players if they are going to win the World Cup. [LNB] The Hibernian star is confident that under former England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson they can become the first African nation to lift the trophy.[LNB]With the likes of Chelsea pair Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou and Portsmouth's Aruna Dindane, it is clear that Ivory Coast are not short of a few stars.[LNB]But Bamba knows when you are in a group with Brazil and Portugal, you cannot rely on individual performances.[LNB]"We have a chance of winning the World Cup," he told the Daily Record.[LNB]"We have world-class players playing for the best teams in Europe, we have experience, we have ability, so why not? [LNB]"Individually, we have so much talent and, if we have had a fault, it's that we expect too much from individuals. We can't afford to think 'We have Drogba, Dindane, Kalou - they'll make things happen'.[LNB]"They can't do it on their own. We all need to take responsibility and put more effort into attacking and defending as a team. If we can do that, we have a great chance."
